Study continued...page 2
The next thing I want to show you is
the makeup of the inside of the arm, with the snail embedded, and then as
it is extracted, and then what remains. Some of the pictures
are diagramed and color coded. Explanations are next to each
picture. To enlarge each picture, again....click on it! |

I split the arm lengthwise, just along the side of the
hole/entryway. |

Outlined in blue
is the meat inside of the leg of the starfish, (the tiny little arms with
the suction cups that carry food to the mouth are a part of this flesh)
Outlined in red is
the opening/hole.
Outlined in green
is the snail, embedded inside the arm of the starfish, having eaten any
flesh that had been where it is located. |

From another angle: |

Outlined in red
is the hole.
Outlined in blue
is the flesh inside of the arm of the starfish.
Outlined in green
is the snail, deeply embedded and stuck tight to the inside of the
arm. |

This is the other half of that same arm. |
Outlined in red
is where the hole ran through this 1/2 of the arm.
Outlined in blue is the
flesh of the starfish, and the rest of the arm appeared to have been eaten
clean at this point. |
