After careful study of what was left inside of the arm, I began planning the extraction of the snail, wanting to preserve it as much as possible.

Outlined in red is the hole.  I followed from the edge of the hole to where the snail lay buried, taking notice of any parts that could belong to the snail. 

Outlined in blue is the flesh part of the arm.  In this 1/2 the small suction cup legs could no longer be distinguished.  In the other 1/2 some were still visible.  The contents of this 1/2 were nothing more than mush. 

Outlined in green is the snail.  At the bottom right of the outline you can see what little flesh remained in this region.  The large lump we viewed from the outside earlier, is the hollow that the snail was living in.
